Playing with toys
I purchased fidget toys about two years ago. They are a combination of pipe cleaners, slinkys and other childhood remnants that help adults focus during trainings. This year has already been completely crazy and so i have forgotten to bring them to training. I have consistently noticed my trainees shifting around and getting restless, time to play with toys again?
Texting and Training
I love my IPhone, period. I have nightmares about losing it. It is the single most important piece of technology I own. However, I don't feel as dependent on it as many of my recent trainees. I'd like to find a way to have them text me answers to question, being that they are texting already. Stay tuned....
What's a trainer to do?
Today as I was conducting a very serious restraint training, one of my trainees shared a story about a time she "threw a kid off her niece" during a child scuffle. The irony was not lost on me. Although I was completely shocked, I continued the training without reprimanding her for her obvious assault on a child, I chose to not give her a platform. Now I wonder if I should have instead used her as an example.
